surface dyslexia
Condition where patients a) show good reading aloud of nonsense words, indicating that they are able to make use of the spelling-to-sound conversion rules, but b) show poor recognition and reading aloud of real words, particularly irregular words, i.e. words that do not follow the spelling-sound rules.
