peripheral process
Process that is generally regarded to be automatic, not open to conscious control, such as the initial analysis of the speech input during listening or the final articulation of sounds during speaking.

Example:
Articulatory processes (muscle commands, etc) in speaking and processes to do with auditory analysis in listening.
