The use of contrastive stress on large now fails to isolate one object, since there are two pairs where a large object is contrasted with a smaller version of the same thing - the blue squares and the green circles. The use of contrast on large may therefore be counterproductive, leading to slower eye movement responses (or to some listeners shifting their gaze to the large circle), so that overall the sentence in 1 might result in slower eye movements to the correct object than the sentence in 2.
