transitivity ambiguity
Type of ambiguity involving verbs which can be used with or without an explicit object.

Example:
wash as in I'm just going to wash (intransitive, i.e. no explicit object) vs. I'm just going to wash the dishes (transitive, with explicit object). Or walk in I'm walking vs. I'm walking the dog.
