Stroop effect When participants find it difficult to ignore the meaning of a word when they are told to name the colour in which the word is printed (e.g. RED printed in green). Reflects automaticity of processing.
Example:E.g. if a participant sees the word RED printed in green, then they experience interference from the meaning of that word (i.e. "red"), when trying to name the colour green.
