minimal attachment
One of the parsing strategies which account for garden path sentences. This one uses the fewest possible syntactic nodes when attaching incoming material into the phrase marker being constructed. See also late closure.

Example:
Minimal Attachment is claimed to result in an interpretation of The man saw the woman with the binoculars where the man has the binoculars.
