temporary ambiguity Type of ambiguity where the meaning is made clear in the same utterance or sentence (also known as local ambiguity). Contrast global or standing ambiguity.
Example:In While John was reading the book fell off his lap the local ambiguity is whether the book is an explicit direct object of reading.
